Latest Activities by WTI Director of Studies Peter Van den Bossche

Peter Van den Bossche, Director of Studies at the WTI, has been involved in a number of different activities this month. These include the delivery of an online lecture about the new EU – Mexico Trade Agreement, a keynote lecture at the Online Summer 2020 Academic Conference on The 3R Initiative and the publication of the Chinese version of the book "The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization". On 14 July 2020, at the invitation of the Commission on Trade and Investment of the International Chamber of Commerce of Mexico, Professor Van den Bossche delivered an online lecture on The New EU – Mexico Trade Agreement and engaged in a discussion on this topic with the members of the Commission. On 17 July 2020, Professor Van den Bossche gave the keynote lecture at the Online Summer 2020 Academic Conference on The 3R Initiative: Re-thinking, Re-packaging and Rescuing World Trade Law, organised by the Law Schools Global League (LSGL) in association with the Higher School of Economics, Moscow (HSE). The question addressed in this lecture was whether the WTO and the multilateral trading system will survive the COVID-19 pandemic, the surge in economic nationalism and re-emergence of superpower confrontation.

Finally, the Chinese edition by Peter Van den Bossche and Wenhua Shan of "The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization" by Peter Van den Bossche and Werner Zdouc (Cambridge University Press, 2017) has now been published by Law Press China. This Chinese edition (1155 pages in two volumes) contains China-specific commentary in addition to updates.
