The Fifth Edition of the best-selling "The Law and Policy of the World Trade Organization" is finally available!

This book has been the prime textbook of choice for teachers and students for many years due to its clear and detailed explanation of the basic principles of the multilateral trading system and the law of the World Trade Organization (WTO).

The book was co-authored by Peter Van den Bossche, the WTI's Director of Studies, and Werner Zdouc, Director of the Knowledge and Information Management, Academic Outreach and WTO Chairs Programme Division of the WTO.

The fifth edition continues to explore the institutional and substantive law of the WTO. It has been updated to incorporate all new developments in the WTO's ever-growing body of case law. Moreover, each chapter includes a 'Further Readings' section to encourage and facilitate research and discussion on the topics addressed. As in previous editions, each chapter also features a summary to reinforce learning. This textbook is an essential tool for all WTO law students and will also serve as a practitioner's introductory guide to the WTO.

Some key features include:

  • Ensures its market leading status by retaining its comprehensive coverage, rigorous analysis and pedagogical features.
  • Provides a thorough grounding in the subject by focussing on key basic principles and the underlying logic of WTO law and the world trading system.
  • Fully up-to-date commentary on the most recent case law, development in international trade law and global economy, including development due to the COVID-19 pandemic crisis and the US trade policy change under the Trump administration.

This fifth edition is accompanied with new Online Resources. Check them out here.
