Prof. Van de Bossche on the International Expert Group (IEG) on Trade-Related Climate Measure, at the Launch Ceremony of the WTO Chair ... and much more

On 12 and 13 September 2022, Peter Van den Bossche, the WTI Director of Studies, participated in the first meeting of the International Expert Group (IEG) on Trade-Related Climate Measures, convened by the Forum on Trade, Environment & the SDGs (TESS) at the Château de Bossey, Bogis-Bossey, Switzerland. TESS is a partnership of the Graduate Institute and the UN Environment Programme.

On 14 September 2022, Peter Van den Bossche participated, in his capacity of Member of the Academic Advisory Board of the WTO Chairs Programme (WCP), in the Launch Ceremony of the WTO Chair at the Universidad Andina Simon Bolivar, Quito, Ecuador. He subsequently contributed to a roundtable discussion on "Desafíos de la OMC y el multilateralismo en tiempo de conflicto", organized by Prof. Michel Levi Coral, the new WTO chairholder.

On the same day, Peter Van den Bossche participated in the public defence of the PhD thesis of Natalia de Lima Figeuiredo, one of his PhD students at Maastricht University and the University of Sao Paulo. Natalia’s thesis is on "Local Content Requirements in WTO Law: Between Free Trade and the Right to Development".

On  20  September 2022, Van den Bossche participated in the public defence of the PhD thesis of Emma Jane Moulds, another of his PhD students at Maastricht University. Her thesis is on "The Patchwork in the Sky: An examination of How the Eight Largest Global Aviation Markets Regulate Trade, Investment and Alliances between Airlines".
