Visiting seminar in Bruges

Prof. Peter Van den Bossche, the WTI’s Director of Studies, teaching "Substantive and Institutional Aspects of WTO Law" at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

On 27 and 28 January 2023, Prof. Peter Van den Bossche, the WTI’s Director of Studies, started his 25-hour seminar on Substantive and Institutional Aspects of WTO Law at the College of Europe in Bruges, Belgium.

This year’s seminar focusses on international trade and the climate crisis and explores the role of the WTO and WTO law in mitigating, and adapting to, climate change. In addition to four class discussions on the climate crisis, trade-related climate measures and WTO institutions, rules and procedures, the seminar includes five case studies examining the WTO consistency of the Feed-in Tariff (FIT) Programme of the Province of Ontario, the J. Nehru National Solar Mission (NSM) of India, the EU Renewable Energy Directive (RED II), the US Inflation Reduction Act (IRA), and the EU Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM).
