Renewable Energy and WTO Law: More Policy Space or Enhanced Disciplines?

The shift to renewable energy is of key importance to decarbonisation of economies and to achieving effective results addressing global warming and rapid climate change. Enhanced recourse in the production of electricity – the main driver and engine of modern life – to solar, wind and tidal energy, complementing hydropower, is essential if informally defined goals to keep the increase of average global temperatures below 2 degrees Celsius in this century are to be realised.
