Nationaler Zukunftstag 2019 - Ein Tag als Chefin

On 14 November 2019, SNSF Professor Elisa Fornalé will participate in this year’s Nationaler Zukunftstag – Ein Tag als Chefin (A Day as a Woman in Charge).

Are you interested in international law and climate change? Join SNSF Prof. Elisa Fornalé on 14 November 2019 to get to know the World Trade Institute, learn more about women in academia and the topic of «Sea Level Rise and International Law». Girls in the 5th, 6th or 7th grade are welcome to participate.

Prof Fornalé will talk about “Sea Level Rise and International Law”, sea level rise due to climate change, and her own experiences with her fieldwork research in the Pacific Islands. The discussion will include the consequences of sea level rise to human beings and what professors of international law do about this problem.

Prof Fornalé will also talk about the life of a professor, and will explain what students need to do to become professors themselves.

Registration is open starting 2 September 2019. For information on how to apply, visit the Nationaler Zukunftstag website. Information on how to participate with Prof. Fornalé’s special project for girls can be found in the “Ein Tag als Chefin” tab.

About Nationaler Zukunftstag:

From https://www.nationalerzukunftstag.ch:

“The Future Day wants - as its name says - to shape the future. Girls and boys change sides; by doing so they get to know atypical fields of work and areas of life and make experiences for life. In this way, horizons open up. Girls and boys get the courage and self-confidence to take control of their future, apart from rigid gender images.

The National Future Day thus promotes gender equality at an early stage in career choice and life planning. It is a cooperation project between school, working world and home.

The National Future Day was born as «National Daughter's Day». It was initiated in 2001 as part of the apprenticeship project 16+ by the Swiss Conference of Equal Opportunity Officers. The interest in the daughter's day was great from the beginning. More than half a million girls and boys as well as well-known companies took part. The National Future Day is a success story.

Today the Future National Day is an intercantonal cooperation project of the Equal Opportunities Departments and Commissions of the cantons of Aargau, Appenzell Ausserrhoden, Berne, Basel-Landschaft, Basel-City, Freiburg, Geneva, Glarus, Graubünden, Lucerne, Neuchâtel, Schwyz, St.Gallen, Ticino, Uri, Valais, Zug and Zurich as well as the city of Bern, the city of Zurich and the Principality of Liechtenstein. The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation SERI financially supports the Future Day.”
