Another MILE goes by: Closing Ceremony 2023

The Closing Ceremony for the 2022-2023 Master Programmes took place on July 28 with our esteemed keynote speaker, H. E. Ambassador Simon Manley CMG, UK Permanent Representative.

The ceremony at the World Trade Institute on 28 July 2023 was emotional and touching. Our 23 MILE23 and TRAIL+6 students, from 19 different nationalities, finished their course work and received their “Milestones”.

Gabriela Garcia Merchan (MILE 22) and Faith Abel (TRAIL+ 5) were awarded with the Thomas Cottier Award for Best Thesis.

We were honoured to welcome as keynote speaker H. E. Ambassador Simon Manley CMG, Permanent Representative of the United Kingdom to the WTO, UN and Other International Organisations (Geneva). His speech, titled "Why Rules Matter: the Importance of Free and Open Trade in a Contested World", was certainly full of inspiration and may trigger some debate!

You can find the full text of the speech below, as well as the introductory remarks from WTI Director of Studies, Prof Peter Van den Bossche.
